Mayor Calls for Independent Outside Forensic Audit of Town of Cobourg's Finances.

In the span of just 2 weeks we as a community have been rocked by a series of serious revelations concerning financial information released first by the Cobourg Police Service Board in their double press releases on Thanksgiving Sunday and now the Town of Cobourg's Finance Department's own release that came out at 4:58pm Thursday Oct 22nd directly from their own in house review of historical financial issues. I believe this to be the proverbial tip of the iceberg and I believe these systemic issues involve possibly three previous terms of Council going back as far as possibly 2002.

This has nothing to, do to be clear, around the issues I have tried to raise regarding at least four members of the previous term of Council who are also current members of Council and decisions they made then that I have been stonewalled by Council to bring forth to the public.

I have pledged if re-elected that I will fight to get this information public.

In my first 100 days I also will call for a full forensic audit by a reputable third party in order to go back several years in order discover the source of these concerning financial issues.

Lucas Cleveland

Mayoral Candidate Town of Cobourg
